Windows 7: Modification possible?

is it possible to modify the .dll files of the attached 2 icons? (network tray icons) i don't have a wifi connection but a lan connection, so the big TV like box appears but i want the wifi bars in replace of that . would appreciate if anybody could modify the .dll files or,reply to my post if its possible or not

I have two questions.
#1 are you using SP1 (Service Pack One)?
#2 do you want all of the icons which with the equivalent of the Wi-Fi it's no problem if you do?

1st make a system restore point System Restore Point - Create

2nd I recommend you turn UAC to the lowest setting and then restart your computer User Account Control - UAC - Change Notification Settings

3rd follow post #6 of this thread it will show you how to take ownership give yourself permission and how to rename and replace your .dll just where it says shell32.dll substituted with pnidui.dll and you should be okay Basic Networking Information

4th restart your computer.

5th put UAC back to your original sending User Account Control - UAC - Change Notification Settings

You may need to do this afterwards Icon Cache - Rebuild
