How to center your taskbar icons in Windows 7

Please don't shoot me if this has already been posted, I couldn't find anything in my searches. Anyways amongst my Internet travels looking for another kind of Win 7 tweak I found this.

Quote:
Give your Windows 7 a different look! The program icons on the Windows 7 by default are situated on the left side on the taskbar, next to your Start orb. But if you’d like them to appear in the center of the taskbar and maybe give it a dock kind of a look, here is what you need to do.

Quote:
Create an empty folder in your Documents folder, say MTTB. Next right click on the taskbar and unlock it. Again right click on it and select Tool bar > New tool bar. Select the empty folder MTTB.

Now right click on the new tool bar and unchecked Show Text and Show Title.
Next drag it (dotted separator) to the left side, between the start orb and taskbar icons and release it.
Center align the taskbar icons. Lock the taskbar.
Thats it!

There's a disadvantage. The left part of your taskbar is visibly darker than the right, plus it's hard to center it JUUUST right.

True for the darker on the left and it does kinda gives it some character.

As for centering I used a tape measure to get it pretty darn close even with it jumping to the left when you lock the taskbar.

No, i used my good Ole trusty Craftsman tape measure, I first eye balled it and I was pretty darn close and I just used the tape measure to do the final tweaking.

After working in metal fabrication shop, hanging iron and rigging up loads out in the filed after a while your eyes get trained + good judgment to see things being off center and what not.

PS I'll book mark this anyway since it looks a nifty tool

I figured you meant a truly handheld tape measure. I have a pair of Acer 22" ws LCD monitors and I am not about to bring the nice, near-razor sharp edge of a tape measure near those screens - that's why I linked ya.

I actually did use a real tape measure on one of my CRTs back in the day - a sweet 19" ViewSonic Graphics Series GS790 (for sale now). It nicked the screen just enough to where I could barely see the nick - but then I decided never again.
