Windows Explorer Icon won't stay the way I want it

I changed the icon of my windows explorer and pinned it back to my toolbar, after that, it kept the original icon, and then a few hours later I looked and it was changed to the one I chose. I was super happy but after I rebooted my computer, it changed back :/

I thought i remembered seeing a thread on how to change it but I couldnt find it, if there is one could someone direct me there please?

and another thing, I couldnt find the right section to post this in, but hopefully someone can help. Is there a way to lock my external Hard Drive by password? I saw one for making a password locked folder and it intrigued me.

Thanks guys, the help i receive on this site is phenomenal!!!

    - Here you can find a quick tutorial on how to change the icon.

    - You can only password protect drives by encrypting them. Since you have windows 7 ultimate you can use windows' built-in encryption system called Bitlocker.
Go to Control Panel > Bitlocker, it is straight forward to encrypt a drive.

Another solution is to use TrueCrypt (or any other softwares) to encrypt the drive the same way, though this process requires more knowledge/time to set up. You have more settings, you can set up an even safer encryption method..

The Bitlocker is a more convinient way to do it and it does the job great!
