Skype 4.1 Style for Windows 7

I really like the Explorer Frame buttons that Skype uses for their theme and I was wondering, could this be done in Windows 7? I remember when Windows XP came out and how long it took til people were able to write completely resource dependent themes that were customized in every single way possible. Vista also jumped on the wagon later on with it's own Visual Styles with the simple uxtheme patch.

What's the progress with themes and visual styles for Windows 7? I've seen a few themes here and there on Deviant Art but they seem to all be a port of the default Aero theme. Would something like this be possible? A Skype-Like Windows 7 Visual Style?

I just love it so much :)

Yeah I feel like its just a matter of time til we'll be able to customize every aspect of Windows 7 Visual Styles.

Just an idea I thought I throw out. :)

hmm.. as I recall, skype has a light-blue frame, doesn't it? Source frames can be enabled by disabling aero. To do that, go to Desktop>Right Click>Personalize and select "Windows 7 Basic" from the Basic and High Contrast Themes section. Hope this helps, as I said, I don't seem to recall Skype having a frame like the one in your image...

yes, it's absolutely possible. in fact, all those bits are part of one image that can be extracted and edited very easily using any resource hacker.

Windows 7 can be skinned just like Vista or XP. but it takes a lot of work to do a full custom skin, and most people don't even know about Windows 7 yet. windows visual styles are made up of hundreds of individual images and a massive settings file, and it's a lot of work to edit every one of them.

there is a way to sort of port styles at the moment, from both XP and Vista, but since 7 has new UI elements, it takes a lot of adjusting to get them working just right.

just give it time. in 6 months, DA will be flooded with visual styles for Windows 7

Hey, I was looking for something similar, and I couldn't find anything so I made one on my own. I only changed the close button to look like the one from skype, but I am planning on changing the start orb and the progress bar, eventually.

Hope this is what you were looking for, ShazaM.

    Comments are welcome.

Hmm, first of all, I just noticed you have a x64 system, and the theme will not work on that unless someone provides me with their aero folder and aero.theme file from their C:\Windows\Resources\ So that I can make a copy that will work with x64. And AFAIK, there are some issues with patching uxtheme in Win7 x64. Unless someone knows how to do this successfully the theme will not work for you even if I make a x64 version.
