Windows 7: Icon on Win 7 64x E:\\ Drive will not go away

Hi, sorry if this is in the wrong area... Anyhow, I recently was trying some different methods to transfer files from my desktop to my laptop, and I started up Windows Easy Share. I realized it wasn't what I wanted about halfway through and quit out, but since then my E:\\ partition (personal files) has something similar to the shortcut overlay that simply will not go away.

It's an icon with two of those windows styled people with the crewcuts and green shirts.... my guess is that is how it got there, as it was not there prior.

Anyhow, while I do stupid things I can understand stuff, so if anyone wants to suggest some sort of registry hack or something to fix that, let me know.

I have also tried using the How To Geek recommended program for icon switches of drives on Windows 7 to no avail...



Anyhow, thanks in advance for any assistance, and again, my apologies if this is not in the correct topic. I just figured the customizers would have more experience with glitchy icons.

\\ means that the drive is now being seen as a networked or "shared" location.

Is this what you are requiring?

(Don't be put off by the reference to Vista- should work on 7 also)

Open computer, select Tools>Folder Options to open the Folder Options window
In the View tab select Show Hidden Files and Folders
Right Click the hard drive icon and select Explore
Find Windows easy transfer.exe, windowseasytrasfer folder, and autorun.inf and delete them from the root of both drives
Restart your computer and check if the issue gets fixed.

No, that's just force of habit. I always write Drives/partitions with a double slash.

Edit: That Microsoft Post you linked to seems promising, but I'm not quite sure I know where to find what he speaks of... am I just going into the WET file folder?
