    Changing Folder Icons

    Hello,

This is my first post but have a tiny problem i`ll try to explain the best i can.

I bought a PC someone installed it for me and put some MAC theme on it i totally dislikes it but he says that he can`t change it back to "normal"windows 7

after some search work i started replacing files in the system32 map to get the actual windows 7 icons worked great so far.

except for 1 thing the actual folder icons are now ugly blue like things but can`t find the correct file were those icons are kept in so can`t change them back to "normal".

The files i replaced for the normal windows 7 files are:
    imageres.dll
    oobefldr.dll
    explorerframe.dll
    shell32.dll
    explorer.exe

is there a file missing here were the normal folder icons are put in?
with the normal folder i mean the folder icons of all the icons in program files for example.
    see attachment.

Please if someone can help me with this is would be very glad.

    Hello,

Have they just set another Theme? Right click on the desktop and click personalize. Then see which theme is selected.

You shouldnt be replacing files in System32 really.

Those folder icons are in the imageres.dll in both C:\Windows\System32 and C:\Windows\SysWOW64 with 64 bit.

the mac theme is not the default theme, so using sfc/scannow and then selecting the aero theme in personalization will remedy it for you, your folders will definitely change back to default, i have used this method several times and have been themeing my pc since 2009

You will need to rebuild your icon cache Icon Cache - Rebuild if you can put your imageres.dll from both locations that I supply in the above post and zip them and upload them to Free File Sharing Made Simple - MediaFire and post a link to them here and I will look at them.
