I've treid doing this manually ..

I dont really want to buy a program that may do it, since I'm running different resolutions on monitors.

    I have 2 displays..
    2048x1536 and 1920x1080.

So I made a picture at
3968x2616 but that in no way fit right.

Look back at some of the posts in this thread & try Display Fusion it works very will.
    Here is it on a 1280 x 800 & 1024 x 768

Thanks for the application recommendation everyone. I'm at work this morning and realize I'd like 2 different wallpapers on my primary desktop and extended desktop. Google search and these forums were the first of the results. Grabbed DisplayFusion, worked like a charm. Thanks again!

Just to update everyone, Displayfusion latest version added better support including taskbars for the free version if I'm not mistaken. They finally felt the heat from Windows 8 with the better multimonitor support. I really believe that once W8 comes, I'll ditch displayfusion.

Because that size is assuming you have 4 monitors. You only need to + on one side the other one is max.
    So if they're side-by-side, then: 2048+1920 x max(1536, 1080) and if they're on top of each other: max(2048, 1920) x 1536 +1080.

Take a look at how I did it: How to set different wallpapers on dual monitor setup?
notice how there are black bands because the right monitor is smaller and positioned in the vertical middle of the big one. The background image has the same shape as the screenshot!
