    TaskBar Customization Issue

I am trying to get my taskbar to store recently opened items but when I right click on the start menu and select properties I see that the check box is greyed out! I have no idea what I did to make it greyed out and more importantly, I have no idea how to get it back so that I can enable it again. Does anyone have an idea where I should look? Thanks for any help you can give!

    Hello Avatar,

This may be able to help you to enable recent items again and allow you to check it.

Recent Items - Enable or Disable

    Hope this helps,

    Hi Shawn,

Thanks for your reply. I tried both methods mentioned in your link but the computer that is having issues is Home Premium so I can do the editing myself, which I prefer, but then I also tried the other method of merging that reg entry into my registry and it didn't work. Really perplexing as I have no idea when it got disabled or how. Guess I'm getting due to do a fresh install when this kind of crap happens... Thanks again for the reply and if you or anyone else can think of something else I can try I'd appreciate hearing it!

Is it doing it all user accounts on the computer, or just that one?

Only have one account so it's just that one.

As a test, you might go ahead and create a new administrator account to see if it is grayed out in this account as well while logged in to it.

Thanks for the reply! Sorry for the delay in responding, I was out of town the last couple of days.

I just did this and the box is not greyed out and is checked! So it's something to do with some setting some where in the other account...

If you would like to use the new account instead, you could copy what you want (ex: files and shortcuts) from the old account into the new account, then once everything checks out ok, delete the old account while logged in the new account.
