Dual-Monitor wallpaper sizing issue

Just chiming in, I have the same issue(s) and think the desktop background in Win7 is buggy.

Example: a primary screen (toshiba laptop) is 1280x800 and secondary (hp 24 lcd) is 1920x1200. Both properly identified and at native resolution.

If I pick stretch, fit, fill - win7 will center the background at the resolution of the small screen on the external display = giant black borders
If I pick tile, it will do some odd tiling job ... filling the big monitor.
If I pick center, it will actually fill the entire second screen properly ... as one would expect with stretch and/or fill.

Thank you, I have just installed 7 on my multi-monitor setup and was frustrated by the black borders on my higher res monitor. I didn't even think to pick "center" since that was the behavior I was trying to correct.

Well, that's a choice I guess. Why do you believe it should work in Windows 7? Windows 7 doesn't do everything and isn't supposed to. No software can accomodate every machination of the human mind. Not everything is scaleable and there is not necessarily value in making everything so. Somewhere along the line the ROI on any given thought diminishes to the point that's it's value is less than it's cost (law of diminishing returns). That fact is what creates niche markets. What if your second display is a smartphone, should Windows 7 be able to do that? What if your second display is an IMAX screen, should Windows 7 be able to handle it too? Somewhere along the line a software developer identifies an envelope that is within scope for the bulk of their customer base and that becomes the limiting factor. People who want support outside that envelope go to a third party developer who believes their company can profit from fulfilling that need.

Someone has seen your need and created third party apps, plugins, add-ins or whatever else is necessary. If you refuse to use them, then that's your choice. If you expect the software developer to redsesign their system everytime you change monitors, you're going to have a lot of unfulfilled desires. You should be happy there's an answer to your problem, not bitter that it didn't come the wat you expected it.

Try ....Actual Multiple Monitors it's a great program for running dual screens or more and check for your scaling options for your hdmi output it should be in the video card software. ie Catalyst control center for ati radeon cards.

It's a scaling issure there is an option in your video card contol software for it
