Changing .DLL Files

Greetings everyone !
Minor problem here and i was hoping someone has a fix. I recently tried to install a new Visual Style, I have done this before so i know what to do. I replaced the Explorer.DLL and changed my Shell32.DLL to .BKP then went to put the new one in, however it says it has copied but it is not there, so i though to hell with it ill just put everything back and solve it another time, however i cannot change the .BKP back either now. Unlucky for me i lost power during this process and had no explorer but just managed to fix the problem and hoping someone could help me either tranfer the new files or just put everything back the way it was.

Extra Info.. When i drag and drop shell32.dll the copy bar comes up, screen flashes but it does not appear in system32.
Also since getting explorer back up it has gone to some Win2000 looking theme.
I have all the original system files though.

I hope i have been descriptive enough and thank you for your time.

Hello Falsemajesty

U can try System Restore
If that don't resolve your issue try this here SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Thank you, was hoping it wouldn't come to a restore but even with changing all the permissions i cannot do anything with the files, so will do a restore now.

You shouldn't have any trouble copying the dll back from outside of Windows.

Just boot up any boot media - and do it.

If you haven't got any external boot media to hand - do the old tapping f8 jobbie and boot into winre.

Fire up command prompt, type Notepad - when notepad pops up, click File > Save - that will bring up a familiar file browse window ( remember to select All files in the drop down box instead of .txt files ).

Ah finally got it to work with sfc /scannow, so if anyone has had a similar problem i would recommend this. Was fairly fast (Roughly 2 mins for the scan) Then a reboot.
Step 1. Run Windows in safe mode with command prompt by pressing f8 at start-up.
Step 2 Type Sfc /Scannow and hit enter.
Thank you for all your help
