Folder layout view the same for all folders

    Hi,

When I view a folder full of jpgs I select 'large icons' so I can see thumbnails. Then when I move up the tree to the folders they too are in 'large icons'. I change these to 'list' and my jpgs are shown in 'list' style.

How can I select a folder to keep the view type I select as I did in XP?

    Hello Rally,

Are you viewing the jpgs in a library by chance? If so, then that would be why since all included folders in a library share the same folder view.

Only if you view the jpgs from say your C:\User\(user-name)\My Pictures folder instead of from say the Pictures library will you be able to have separate folder views per folder.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

Aha. Yes that is the answer. Brill. .

What a crazy thing for Windows to do though - encouraging you to use libraries (which I like) and then tying your hands when you do it.

Does anyone know of a workaround?

There's not one that I know of other than viewing them at their source folder instead.

The thinking was that since a library is a collection of all the included folders in one place, you would want to view them the same way.
