This past year my office had upgraded to Windows 7 Pro x32 for our office computers and after seeing what Enterprise brings as far as AppLocker for group policy my manager had approved getting this year's systems as Enterprise, and we are weighing x32 vs. x64. There is no reasons that we found that are preventing us from going x64 but with a sysprep test that I ran, I had problems.
I referenced a blog or article posted by these forums for how to sysprep which was geared towards x32 systems, and I did some guesswork in making an answer file for the x64 systems to try and match my previous, working answer file. In short, may of the components (using WSIM) on my previous working one began with x32, and in the one that I tried to put together I found the matching component that began with a wow64 that I tried testing. What happened is when I ran sysprep, my system logged out instead of shut down, and after I restarted and logged back in, it acted like machine settings were reset, but it never went through the OOBE. Sysprep also wouldn't run again, it was almost like it half processed.
The question that I'm getting at is did I go through the correct steps for a x64 system, or can I also use the previous x32 answer file that is working for 7Prox32 on a 7Entx64 system for sysprepping? Thanks!
