Hi, I'm trying to use the Windows 7 Task scheduler to automatically open an app when I connect headphones, but I can't figure out the event ID/log for connected jack. When I connect/disconnect a jack, I get a taskbar notification, and C:\Windows\System32\config\SYSTEM gets updated.
What sound chip do you have, onboard or discrete. Point is I'm not sure you can do what you want, normally the control over what happens is done by the chip, I'm not clear on if it can then be used as a trigger for something else to happen, apart from muting the external speakers.

It's a Dell XPS15 laptop with a Realtek alc665 soundcard. I forgot to add, when I connect the headphones, beside the windows notification, a pop-up asks me what I connected to the jack (headphones/output for front speakers etc.), maybe that's what's logged in the file.
