    Optimize this folder for...

Is there any way to force new folders to be optimized for a certain type, for example "Documents"?

When I download a video file from a newsgroup or via bittorrent a folder is often created, and if that folder happens to contain mostly video files, Windows 7 takes it upon itself to decide that this folder should be optimized for "Videos".

Is there any way to disable this behaviour? I use one (1) setting for all my folders and I will never want to use another one so I would really appreciate it if Microsoft would stop deciding how I want to display the files in my folders. (sorry, I'm just so annoyed with a lot of aspects of this operating system)

Ugh, I know what you mean. It's a problem that's plauged me since at least XP and only seems to get worse over time as explorer tries to be more "helpful".

The closest I've found is that you open up the root folder of each drive. Set "Optimize for general" or something like that, then set all the things you want set. Icon size, columns, column widths. And when everything is set the way you want it. Then click on "Set all folders to be like this one" (or however it's phrased)

Then generally, when you make a new folder under another folder it ends up with the same settings.

But it's not perfect, you have to do it for ezch drive. I don't know of anyway to enforce a rock solid "Do it this way unless I specifically say otherwise" flag in the registry or anything

    Hello Oddish,

This will allow you to change all folder templates for all folder to one that you want to use instead.

    Folder Template - Default

    Hope this helps,
