Disable the windows animated logo at startup

I have a 64 bit home premium and am trying to shave a few seconds off the startup time. I want to disable the animated logo at startup so I started msconfig>boot tab> checked the "no gui boot" box but the animation is still there!

The animated windows logo does not affect the time it takes to start up your PC... If your pc would be faster, for example if you would have a SSD instead of a HDD your system would boot up before the animation ends so it does not speed up your startup if you remove it

Thanks Dino13 for the info. I guess I'm trying to remove all unnecessary "fat" to get the optimum performance. I have also tried to disable services that I don't need, which hasn't made much difference in performance. I can't find the indexing service in the services.msc. The single most useful performance booster I have noticed is disabling unneeded startup applications.

and that is exactly the only thing you can do to really improve you starup - disable startup applications... The best way to do this is probably using a program called "tuneup utilities"... Removing services isn't recommended at all, unless you want to get rid of a service created by a virus

I agree with Dino that the startup programs is the only place you'll notice any real difference in boot speed but if you really want to disable the boot animation then the this should work. Open a cmd window as Administrator and type

    bcdedit /set {current} bootux disabled

    To re-enable it type - bcdedit /deletevalue {current} bootux

bootux values can be - Disabled, Basic or Standard

And I think "Windows Search" is the indexing service, don't know what effect it has on anything else though.

Thank you all for your replies

Dino 13, I use a really cool portable software to remove startup apps. It's called autoruns, the sheer number of startup softwares that are hidden away from msconfig is dazzling.

Soluto will give you a nice GUI showing what takes time on boot.

    https://www.soluto.com/

It is a useful guide even if you don't use Soluto to delay, etc.
