SHUTDOWN BUTTON win7 - how to add delay to default shutdown button

WIN 7 Professional:
I think the shutdown button should have a confirmation prompt with a delay, whether on the Sign on page or the Start menu to allow for recovery when inadvertently clicking it.

I know I can create my own shutdown, sleep, etc. but that does not resolve the issue, unless the shutdown buttons are disabled on the sign on page and the START menu.

If that cannot be realized the next solution is to make sure the shutdown button is set to other than shutdown by default(yes, it will not say shutdown then, maybe 'sleep') and shutdown is in the sub-menu instead.

'lock' is not an option as some had suggested, unless it can be swapped with the 'shutdown'
(UPDATE)
I now found out they can be swapped... but it is misleading, because I thought the Power Button is the PHYSICAL button on the hardware... thus when I press it now it will cause a lock?!

Anyway here is the link to the thread I saw about this issue:
Stop Shutdown process after click Shutdown button!

(UPDATE)
Somewhere I saw a comment that ESC hit repeatedly does the trick... I tried that, and did not get the same result... I will next time it happens... I will hit it until the freaking screen goes black...

(UPDATE)
Pardon my French, but I constantly see responses in forums that want to deny requests as unnecessary, or fluff... I am not picking on anyone personally, there are many responses that take that approach.

The best way to explain it... I am in a plane and there is a huge red button within reach of any elbow, knuckle, forehead, shoulder blade, knee, bum-cheek, or even an excited bosom, and the button triggers a non reversible 'kill-engine'... I bl..dy don't think it would be too much asking that the button required perhaps at least a 2nd button to be triggered before it decided to send me to a sure spirally death. ...or ooops! the Nuke is gone!

I have decided to swap the Shutdown with lock (Startmenu-properties-Powerbutton=lock) as I mentioned above misleading and my create a different behavior on the Physical Power button.
and I created a shortcut [shutdown /... /...] with a delay and one Abort shortcut [shutdown /a]
...as best go-around solution for now.

Thanks for any help you may provide.
