Desktop hasn't changed much, but I thought I'd post the glass theme window background I just found.

I really like that desktop! What is that Objectdock Theme? What is the actual Windows theme?
    Alonso,

The theme is part of the Placebo VS suite by SolMiler. The theme is called Black Market 2.
    SolMiler's deviantART Gallery

Any dock theme will do, as long as you set it to 100% transparency and the right size. The button dock icons I did myself (let me know if you want them :)), based on the Token Icon set by brsev. The top tab dock is part of the standard objectdock plus package.
    brsev's deviantART gallery

The drives are XWidget EkerDriverDock (part of XWidget installation package) by hpluslabels (modified using brsevīs icons).
XWidget and XLaunchpad Homepage - Powerful Widget Engine with visual widget editor.

Taskbar icons are hidden using Finderbar. No link. Tell me if you want it.

Time: Rainmeter Macbar skin, modified. Weather. ElementaryWeather Rainmeter skin, modified.

Transparency effect for window is Fullglass. I cannot find a link to it, but just tell me know if you want it and I'll upload it.

    I think thatīs all.

    Cheers,

    J

fair enough! it certainly catches your attention, so i guess it works for you.
i would recommend 7 sticky notes, you can have different colors to denote importance and you can even have alarm pop ups on them as reminders

7 Sticky Notes - Features - Fun, interactive, powerful and cool Sticky Notes for your Desktop!
Thanks. I glanced at the site and put the link on another sticky note to check out more thoroughly later. I can change the colors of the notes I use now; I just don't bother.
I checked out 7 Sticky Notes the other day. For just quickie notes like most of the ones on my desktop, it's a bit too clunky; each note in 7 Sticky Notes is significantly larger than the same one in the program I'm using now.

I do see 7 S.N. being handy for lists that don't need to be in my face all the time because I can roll them up and out of the way when I'm not referring to them. I have a test note rolled up on my desktop to see how stable it is (I had another sticky note program that had the same feature but the rolled up notes would crash occasionally and need reformatting; I finally got fed up and dumped it).

I haven't needed an alarm or a note automagically appearing yet so I haven't tried that out...yet (if rolled up notes work out alright, I'll eventually try out some other features)

True but there is a limit to how small they can be made and still show all the data. The 7 Sticky Notes have a larger top and bottom margin than the ones I use, even if you remove the title; that's what's making the notes significantly bigger.
