In eighth grade, first day of the school year (when I was a lad of 13) the English teacher was going around the room doing the attendance to introduce us all to him, and when it came to me, he asked me if I preferred my proper name, or Randy, and when I said that I preferred Randy, he grinned and said," Do you know what that is a slang term for over in England?" and the entire class erupted in laughter.
I wished that I could crawl under my desk and hide.....lol. I see the humor in it now, but I sure didn't that day....the schooltime years were awkward and miserable for me.
