Icons on External HDD not showing

So I like the idea of being able to using custom icons for folders (album covers as the folder) but when I plug in my external HDD into a friends PC the icons don't show up yet they work fine on my PC. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Where do you keep your custom icons at? If they are on your computer they will not show up on someone else's computer, they would have to be stored in the external hard drive for that to work.

Thanks! But that doesn't really help.

They're in each folder for each album.

Is it because icon settings are stored on the C:/ drive somewhere and that persons computer I'm using doesn't have that same ThumbCache.db as me? What if I went into their %appdata% folder and deleted the IconCache.db, perhaps that would work?

If you are talking about the folder thumbnail preview (Folder.jpg), then when in your friends computer, you may need to a quick rebuild of icon cache to generate the previews rightly. Sometimes changing the icon view also does the trick .

Thanks for the help but no luck so far. I took the album art cover (a .jpeg file) and converted it into an icon (a .ico file). These icons dont show but the folder does show the .jpg on the thumbnail (on my computer and my friends)

.ico files if customized in one computer will not be shown in another one.
