Static Positioning Regularly Used Windows Explorer Folders On Desktop

When I use Windows Explorer I regularly use the same 4-5 folders on my dual monitor Desktop. Which I size and position after Log-on in exact same positions on my Desktop each day. I have to do this tedious task each and every time I log-on.

Does anybody know of a way to get them to reopen with the same positioning and sizing each time I login and re-open them?

Surprises me that this is not a basic and standard feature of Windows! If not maybe Windows could make it a feature as it would be very useful.

Static Positioning Regularly Used Windows Explorer Folders On Desktop

I ended up purchasing WindowsManager by DeskSoft and am just learning it now.

Can anyone tell me if they had any problems/bugs with it. Have noticed that some
application windows which have a fixed size (unable to be sized) will open but with part of normal graphical interface incomplete or missing. I have just excluded those from WindowsManager.

Also if I open a Windows Explorer window stored within WindowsManager and then minimize it; and later close it when it is still minimised; and then reopen it again it can lose positioning. Not a problem if closed from non minimized state.

    Thanks in advance ... Gary

I have used it for over three years an have had zero problems. I usually clear it about every 6 months because the first version I had could only remember 200 windows or some such. I think the later ones may not have that limitation. If you get a stubborn window you have to place it and then use the remember this size/this position option. Then close the window with the exit and not the X. This seems to make it remember for reasons beyond me. There is a bit to play with in that control panel. The help section was useful too. Also be sure it is set to start with Windows or it won't work. I just checked and I now have version 1.9. I think I started with 1.0. They were giving free updates to the next whole number. I suspect they are well into the 2.'s by now? I have never experienced any Windows with any graphical components cut off. Don't know what to make of that. Check your dpi maybe??

Thx for your comments Outlander the point about how to close the Window when assigning a window to Windows Manager was helpful. Works.
Is up to version 2.0.3 now.Could you tell me the different functions of Window Properties 'OK' button and 'Apply' button ? In other words is 'Apply' to save change and ok just to implement change which won't be permanent unless 'Apply' used subsequently? Also difference between these and the Profile 'Save' button? Is profile save there so different users can have there own set up of the program?

To clear out the cache of the program is it a case of simply deleting the current profile saved? How do you clear out the program so is empty?

    Thx.. Gary

After I set a Window I hit apply , OK and the close interface. Just seemed like a logical progression. For all I know it might work fine without doing any of that! I might add that the version I have picks up most Windows automatically. Rarely do I have to set anything. Now about clearing the cache....I just hit cntrl and scroll select all the entries then delete. I thought the later version had some way to do that with the properties box? I will say that my 1.9 is not as fussy about the cache as the 1.0 was. I rarely if ever clear with this version. 1.0 would simply stop working if it got too many entries. The only options in the properties dialogue that I have had to use are the set/size/position ones. The others I would have to go to help and muddle through. Basically the tool works and I don't think about it or bother with it. A great littlke program for $10 at the time.
