Why does the first opened program doc in front of the Quick Launch?

How do I change the taskbar to not do this, i.e. be like Vista's?

    Hello Advice Pro,

Do you have Quick Launch moved to the far left side like in step 8 in the tutorial below?

Quick Launch - Enable or Disable

    Hope this helps,

No, I don't think that it is the QL. It's what's on the left in 8c. I want to know what that is called?

Could you post a screenshot showing it to see if someone may be able to ID it? :)

Ah, ok. It looks like you have the taskbar set to Never combine for buttons instead of Always combine, hide labels for icons. :)

Now the icons are how I like them, but the opened program doesn't show:

Do you mean that the Internet Explorer icon doesn't show on your taskbar when it's opened??

The taskbar can only show icons (never combined) or buttons (when combined) for opened items, but not both. Do you have icons currently?
