How to get Mac close/minimize/mazimize buttons without using regedit?

Is there some sort of software that can do this? Can't seem to find a decent tutorial on this that doesn't involve regedit.

I use Ave's Windows7 Style Builder to edit the .msstyles which is where those images are located in. This will not put them on the left side of Explorer they will still be on the right side where Windows has located them.
Do you already have the Mac buttons?

You could try a resource hacker of some kind an try to edit the steam image #971 in the .msstyles.
It's a transparent image I put it on a gray background so you can see it.

Windows Style Builder makes editing steam images easy it breaks in down.
