keep desktop iocons where I place.

I place the desktop icons where I want them and the next time the computer starts or restarts the icons are back to some kind of default position. How do I make them stay whee I put them?

    This may be it

If you are using Windows7 right click on desktop and go to where it say view, Then make sure you have auto arrange icons unchecked.
Then move the icons to the position you want and reboot the computer properly.
Let me know if this works for you if not where take it from there.
Afterthought also once icons are in the correct place right click desktop as before and hit the refresh option then try rebooting

It is said to do on Windows explorer, and it has nothing to do with Internet Explorer.

Right click on desktop > View > uncheck "Auto arrange icons" and "align icons to grid" .

    Another option

I didn't ask what browser you where using as this would have no affect on the desktop.
If it was already unchecked then try my afterthought if you haven't already.
Also this may be something to do with your screen resolution the native resolution may be to high or low for the graphic drivers you have installed.
If not try updating your drivers you will find them at you computer manufacturer website.

Just a quick question is this a recent problem or a on going one.
