    Taskbar Preview

I was wondering if anyone knows how to arrange the preview windows. For example, if I have 5 Firefox windows open I want to change the order left to right that they are shown. I can't seem to rearrange them like I can with the main taskbar buttons.

I got used to being able to do this with a taskbar addon I used in Windows XP.

Anyone have native way to do it with the new Windows 7 taskbar? If not, does anyone know a program or registry change that will allow this?

I dont know of any way to do it. Seems the order is dictated by which was opened first to last. Cant drag and no context menu to re-order/arrange.

If I come across something I'll post back here.

Edit: If I drag tabs in Internet Explorer to change thier order, the taskbar preview updates accordingly.

That is something Firefox would have to add.

    From the MSDN ITaskbarList3 documentation:
SetTabOrderInserts a new thumbnail into a tabbed-document interface (TDI) or multiple-document interface (MDI) application's group flyout or moves an existing thumbnail to a new position in the application's group.

As noted above, IE already has this behavior.

Exactly right, Windows shouldn't be held responsible for the behaviour of this sort of thing, the program's devs have to implement this.

I understand what you're saying here but this isn't what I'm looking for. I don't want to see what are in all the different tabs. Showing the one tab that's selected in each window is fine.

What I'm looking for is rearranging the order of the displayed preview windows in the taskbar by manually moving them around. I've tried this with IE, Firefox, and several other programs. None of them work.

A program I used to use for Windows XP was Taskbar Shuffle. It allowed me to move programs around to different spots in the taskbar (Windows 7 does this) and move the order each instance (window) of a program listed in the taskbar (Windows 7 doesn't appear to allow you to do this).

Er, Ummm Taskbar shuffle. He has a win 7 discussion going so I suspect its supported, maybe in beta perhaps.

The functionality just isnt here on 7. The thumbnail previews are different than the taskbar buttons (for running apps). Thats why Taskbar Shuffle works in XP and Vista.

The only way I've managed to re-arrange the thumbs is to change the tab order in IE. I havent been able to do this in/with any other program.

I dont know of a regedit either.
