I've joined to post perhaps a somewhat silly question, however, it's a rather big pet peeve of mine and I would like to see if any of you lovely folks here know how to fix it.
I've recently changed my computer's theme to a "Team Fortress 2" theme. I've got some pretty awesome desktop backgrounds and some custom sounds I ripped from the game. For example, pluggin' in a USB device will trigger the Medic to say, "Hold still, this will only sting for a moment!"
Now one of my favorites is the "Critical Battery Alarm", which will trigger the Heavy to yell, "CHARGE ME!"
It makes me happy to imagine this sound effect playing while my computer is in the presence of others. I would love to make it a reality, but unfortunately, some time after I change the sound effect- and I'm not sure when or why- it keeps reverting to the annoying default BEEP BEEP BEEP Windows low battery alarm. Every time I hear it I want to grind my teeth and tear my hair out, it's such a ear-splitting sound! I would much rather to hear the Heavy yelling at me to "charge" my computer.
So I'm wondering if you guys could help me out with this? I really want to add a bit of personality to my computer.
1. All other custom sounds I have set up work perfectly EXCEPT "Low Battery Alarm" and "Critical Battery Alarm". They DO work when I set them up, but at some point they always end up reverting to default- I think this might happen if my computer is restarted or goes into sleep mode. I will have to double-check to be sure. So yes- they ARE all working WAV files and they all DO work at first, until they mysteriously revert to default.
2. As stated before, those two are the only sounds that switch back to default; all other custom sounds remain in-tact. Kind of ironic, considering the Low/Critical Battery Alarms are my favorite sound effects that give my lappy a bit more personality.
