Windows 7: Customize vista-style boot logo in Windows 7

Hi, i'm building an htpc with xbmc on my windows 7 so i'm trying to customize the boot process. I changed successfully the boot logo (win 7 one) and the boot logon screen. The problem is that my tv supports only 1280x720 res and not the 1024x768 that needs the new windows 7 boot logo, so it automatically starts with the old windows vista boot logo.
Can i customize that too in win 7? If i can how can i do it? It's the same of windows vista? thanks in advance

As far as I know, if your resolution isn't high enough, you can't get the Windows 7 style boot logo.

However, you asked about modifying the Vista style boot logo? If you've modified it in Windows XP, it should be a familiar process. Just use a resource editor (such as Restorator or Resource Hacker) to modify the .bmp files in "C:\Windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe". It uses the same color palate as in XP. I wouldn't recommend using any 'Change the Windows XP boot screen' applications (e.g. Bootskin or BootEditor) as those programs are designed for XP, and not 7.

Yes it's what i want to do, but in win 7 x64 there's the file in both system32 and syswow64, when i edit authui.dll i had to do it for both because if i didn't the system won't boot, it's the same with this?

Unfortunately, I've never had the chance to test changing the vista-style boot screen this on an x64 system. If you think that your system won't boot if you mess up, I would modify both files (System32 and SysWOW64) just to be safe (although I've never had any problems with this myself). You should definitely back up the original ntoskrnl.exe files before applying the new ones.
