Changing .ico for system tray icons?

How do I go about doing this? I have been searching google for a while now and all the hits I get are about how to show/hide them or about changing icons for task bar, which is not what I'm talking about...

You will need a resource hacker of some kind so you can export/import the icons from the .dlls

For the Action Center flag are in the ActionCenter.dll

For the Network icon (the wireless and wired) are in pnidui.dll

For the Volume icon it is in SndVolSSO.dll

If you have a laptop the battery indicator is bitmaps instead of icons they are in batmeter.dll

You are showing you have 64-bit installed so the above .dlls will be in both C:\Windows\System32 and C:\Windows\SysWOW64

You should put copies of these .dlls on your desktop and modify them leaving the originals alone.

After you have your .dlls edited to properly change a system file you need to take ownership give yourself permission and rename the original .dlls and then copy in the new one, look at Post #6 of this thread will tell you how to do it Basic Networking Information

If you need more information or help let me know.
