    Create custom CLSID folders

    Hi,
I'd like to create a custom CLSID folder. Can you tell me how to do so?

Hello Justin, and welcome to Seven Forums. :)

Could you give more details on exactly what you were wanting to create this for?

    Hi Brink,
    Thank you.

I sure can. Essentially I want to customize my file manager navigation pane. Perhaps your curious as to why I would want to do such a thing... Reason being is I dislike the functionality the Windows file manager and predetermined folders IE Favorites, Libraries, Homegroup, Computer, Network. I'm also annoyed by the functionality of Windows Libraries and distracted by it's associated sub folders.

What I would like to do is create additional directories (like Favorites, but instead call it Documents). Located within Documents would be a series of sub-folders, (all folders would be located in Windows/Users/JustinDesilva). This would enable me to have direct access to a commonly used folder located in the navigation pane, but avoid Windows style Library drop down sub folders.

Another goal of mine is to avoid sharing my Documents and My Documents folders with Windows Programs associated files and folders.

My intentions and rationale may appear a bit abstract, but I'm really not happy with Windows 7 file manager functionality but my applications require me to use it.

I'm not sure if all of that is possible, but you might see if one of the free programs below may work as an alternative to Explorer for you.

Thanks, I will try one of these for the mean time.

Do you have any knowledge of this process?

I haven't done that before, but it looks pretty straight forward to do using those steps as a guideline for what folder you want create.

You could use the link below to generate a unique GUID number to use with it.
