    What happened to Toolbar Buttons?

    Hello,
Having skipped XP, I'm kind of surprised to find no toolbar buttons or ways to customize those for Win 7 Explorer. Did I miss something?

Hello Ragzarok, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Could you post a screenshot of the toolbar that you are referring to, to help us know which one? :)

    Menu Bar??

Hello, In XP, you can go to View>Toolbars>Customize, and place toolbar buttons on the exlporer bar. Some buttons I always needed were Copy, Paste, Move To, Copy To, Delete, etc...I no longer have XP, sorry, can't get a screen shot.

    Ragzarok,

Sorry, but those options have been removed in both Vista and Windows 7.

You can use the tutorial below to add "Copy to Folder" and "Move to Folder" to the context menu to make it a bit easier to use instead though.

Thank you. I've sort of figured it out after a little searching. Given that, what are people doing in order to enhance file management in the new Explorer? It is a nightmare without toolbar buttons, QTTabBar, or any replacements for those. Is there any known way to tweak the new Explorer? Resize the toolbars, add new toolbar, etc?

Other than some 3rd party program like QTTabBar, there is no option for this in Windows 7.

The new system is a context sensitive one - if you select a file then most of the options you mention are available via the organise tool-bar item.

Not as convenient as the XP buttons, at times, I will admit, but has scopr for more flexibility as commands on the new system is tailored to the actual item selected :)

You're welcome. Hopefully something will develop soon after Windows 7 has been out for a bit.
