How to make the selected program in ALT + TAB more evident?

Hi everybody ::- ). My first post here ::- D.

I am wondering if there is any way to make the selected program in ALT + TAB more evident?

You know, when pressing ALT + TAB we get the running applications, with icon & window preview. Each time we press TAB, the next application is selected.

Is there any way to make it more evident as to what application is currently selected? Right now, the selected application has a very thin / almost un-noticeable border around it. I would like a firmer border, or anything that would more definitely indicate what window I have selected.

    Thank you in advance!

If you hold over the application in the switcher Windows brings it forward and fades the other windows away...don't see how you can get more noticeable then that

Hi and thanks for answering logicearth. I actually don't like that behavior at all ::- (. I actually am looking to increase that interval so it doesn't bring that window forward any more. I just created another thread for that one.

    Welcome to the Seven Forums

If you are using the default aero theme I can change that image for you, using Windows Style Builder and post it here in a zip folder.
If you are using a custom theme you will need to ask the theme maker. It's not cool to change someone else work.
    &
This will be a custom theme and you will need to do 1 of these 2 ways of Enabling custom themes for it to work.
Enabling Custom Themes - Windows 7
    Or
Theme - How to Apply Custom Themes

If this is something you would like me to do I can make that image with a bolder border or even a color change.
    Let me know.

Hm, that's very kind of you. And that's an interesting program, a pity it requires a license.

I have no specific color/image desires as I am a complete mess in the design department. Just something with more contrast. A black border of 3-4 pixels would be great I guess.

I attached an example to this post.

And yes, I use the default Windows 7 theme, no customization whatsoever (except the desktop).

Give me a little time and I will get that done and posted by early afternoon at the latest.
Meanwhile do 1 of those 2 tutorials so that you are ready when I'm done.

Of course! Thank you very much for jumping in! I suspected this is indeed something which can't be changed other than applying an entire theme. I can't say I'm very thrilled about the idea of a constantly running process which messes with my default DLLs, but it's Microsoft's fault with the 3rd party restrictions.

Is there any cheap way you can get a theme signed so that hack is not needed? Hm, I guess this is a dumb question, as otherwise the hack would not be so... popular. So let me rephrase: how expensive is it to get a theme signed?

Using this tutorial Enabling Custom Themes - Windows 7 you are not patching anything, this is a service that starts when Windows starts and is very lightweight and works very well it's my personal choice for enabling custom themes.

I don't think there's any way to make a theme signed it must come from Microsoft.

OK here you go download and extract the zip file at the bottom of this post to your desktop, then put both 1 Axonn theme folder and 1 Axonn.theme file in C:\Windows\Resources\Themes.

It will show up in Personalization under Installed Themes as Axonn.

Thanks a million Bongo! For now, this is a virtual million, but still ::- D.

One more question. That UXStyle, does it still phone home every hour and stuff like that? I'm a bit skeptical about such programs/services, especially if I don't have the source code.

I guess you guys have been using it for quite some time, right?

And BTW, the download link for UX Style in your first tutorial is broken, and their website seems to be dead.
