Taskbar Labels and Custom Icons help

For my Window 7 taskbar, I enjoy using custom icons. I also enjoy using labels on my taskbar ("Combine when taskbar is full.")

If I chose labels, whenever I open a program with a custom icon, the icon reverts back to it's default!

When I close that program, though, the icon reverts back to my custom one.

If I choose no labels ("Always combine, hide labels"), then my custom icon remains the same when closing and opening the program.

Example (no labels):

Example (with labels):

Note: In both of the screenshots, google chrome is open; it just doesn't look like it because of my theme.

Thanks a ton!

Welcome to the Seven Forums

I can confirm you are right, the only way I know how to show a custom icon when the program is open when set to "Combine when taskbar is full" is to change the icon in the program .exe in the program file with a resource hacker of some kind.
