    Making taskbar icons "flat"?

Is it possible to remove the 'button'-like look of my taskbar icons? There is way too much shine, and gloss to my liking. I would like to get them looking like the large quick launch icons if possible, in the way that they have no border, or effects, simply just an icon.

You could use this tutorial Taskbar Button: Change Color of Orange Flashing Button and edit all the button states, making them transparent.
    Or
If you are using the default aero theme I can change that for you, using Windows Style Builder and post it here in a zip folder.
If you are using a custom theme you will need to ask the theme maker. It's not cool to change someone else work.

This will be a custom theme and you will need to do 1 of these 2 ways of Enabling custom themes for it to work.

Thanks! That's exactly what I was looking for. I am using a custom theme so as said in the tutorial, the #'s for each resource would be different. I managed to find them though. I opened them in GIMP, and deleted everything within the rectangle so that it would be completely blank, and transparent. I installed the theme, yet it had no effect at all on the taskbar icons. Out of curiosity I changed the position of the taskbar to the left, and right side my screen, voila! It works, but only on the sides of my screen. I wonder what I'm doing wrong...

Post a link to the theme and I will look at it.

Did you edit 4 or 8 images? There are 4 images for the top/bottom taskbar buttons and 4 images for left/right taskbar buttons.

I believe I edited 3 sets of 4 images in total. Each quite a few #s apart from each other.
