It can be customized in many ways.
Please tell me how to remove the address bar using Classic Shell. This thread is about removing or moving the address bar. Everybody knows about Classic Sjhell already.

But since this takes longer to load (and it seems kind of buggy) I want to do this with Windows 7's explorer. I might create a new thread just about that.
I think the closest we can get there is to find a working version of IE5-IE6 for Win7. Since some people packaged Outlook Express for Win7 and 8, this does not seem impossible.

You can get IE6, insecure as it is of course. Should work with 7.

Classic Shell won't move (or remove) the address bar. Trust me, I would know. There have actually been threads on the Classic Shell forums about that very topic. Bottom line is that Classic Shell can't do it because it is part of the default Aero theme's glass.

Anyways, I don't really want to use IE6 as it is very, very insecure (I'm pretty sure it is the world's most insecure browser actually). I'm so sorry to ask about this for the hundredth time, but what DLL file would need to be modified to hide the address bar with the Classic theme? I really can't find any information anywhere. I find it incredibly hard to believe that there's no UIFILE or XML file for it, so where is it?

I tried it already. It does not work. At least at 64-bit Windows 7. Once you change any settings (such as uncheck the toolbar appearance), it crashes.

There is no need to use it as browser. If u use it as a file manager, u are not exposed to any insecurities.

You make a valid point re: the thread.

I don't know about Classic Shell and I bet a lot of other people don't either, so not Everybody knows about it
It was only a suggestion for Butters to look at, thank you for the feedback Anixx. I will leave you to your own devices. Good luck.

There are many irrelevant to this topic things still left in the world, there is no reason to come up with them here.
