    Automatic login

    Hi guys

Is there a way to stop the login?
I have the only account on the computer and it is not passworded plus it is the administrator.
It is a pain that I have to babysit the PC whilst it is starting up when I could be cooking dinner or something.

    Thanks

    Hello iroro,

One way to stop auto login is to create a password for the account.

    Hope this helps, :)

    Hi, iroro, Brink,

I think I know what iroro is asking.

When I boot-up, my machine goes right to my desktop, don't ask me how I set it that way, it just does.
And, if I don't bother it, it will go into hybrid sleep after a time I have set.

All I need to do to wake it up is tap the keyboard or mouse.

Brink, in your tutorial: Log On Automatically at Startup Would section three (3) then four (4) help in this case?

    I must ask though.

Wouldn't 3C be a better fit for 4A, and vice/versa, unless there is some type of reverse logic here that I am missing, and there seems to be too many check/unchecks in section 3?

    • 3A - Says check
    • 3C - Uncheck to turn on
    • 4A - Check to turn off

I only ask because, mine is checked and it does what I have described above.

    Hello Steve,

I'm not sure that would work since iroro never had a password initially, and the box would be checked by default. If iroro ever had a password and removed it, then it may work.

Yeah, it can be a bit confusing in step 3. The main reason is that the box must be checked to be able to select the user account you want to be logged into automatically, then uncheck the box to set it to do so.

Then that's why mine is checked, I never used a password.

Okay, that clears that up, thanks Brink.

sorry, I may have worded what i said wrong, I am saying that it goes to the login tiles, and i have to watch it start up so i can press enter for it to log in. I would like to make it login automatically. It will start up and go to the login screen. I would like it to just start up and login right away.

Ah, ok iroro. I thought you wanted it to not log on to the account automatically at startup.

In this case, you can use the tutorial below to do so. You would leave the password fields blank for you selected user account since it doesn't have one.
