Slight issue with the color of my desktop background.

Whenever I set an image as my desktop background, the colors change slightly. The image I'm using is on the left, and my desktop is on the right. It could just be me, but If you look closely, you might see some odd lines on my desktop background around the bottom:

Both my screen resolution and the image are 1440 by 900. Can anyone explain this to me?

Have you tried removing the clock in the upper left of the screen and see if that has an effect?

I have tried that, I put it on for the picture just so you'd know which one was a screenshot of my desktop.

Well, I would say it's the monitor itself, but I DO notice a difference between the wallpaper and the image. All well, I guess it's not that big of a deal.

No. I see the one on the right is slightly darker and has faint white vertical line eminating from the bottom of the picture which is comparable to backlight LED distortion. It is unusual to see this as both images are screenshots. What software is the left screenshot taken from and does it use it's own colour palette to display images?

It's a screenshot of a vidya game just using print screen.

So the left is the raw image as it was screen shot from the game, and the right is a screen shot of the desktop with the left image set as the wallpaper? Although the dimensions are the same and it shouldn't make any difference, have you tried setting the wallpaper between "centre" "streched" "Fill" and "Fit" to see if there is any change.
