Cannot force system to use my modified system files...

I am using 64-bit version, and there is a problem. I want to change watermark text on desktop (right, down corner of screen). It is possible by changing user32.dll.mui in resource editor. I edited 32 and 64-bit file in WOW64 and System32 folder, but text on screen is same. Nothing changed... I replaced backups in C:\Windows\winsxs because it may use system file from backup, but nothing. How can I successfully apply modified system files on 64-bit Windows OS?

Have you taken ownership of the files you want to replace in system32 and SysWOW64?
If not , sometimes when you paste the new ones, it seems like they are replaced but they are not.
Check the permissions under the security tab in properties to make sure you have enough rights over the files to replace.
If not try using the Take Ownership tool.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers,
    J

Of course I took ownership of files, and I also have backed the TrustedInstaller as owner.

    Welcome to the Seven Forums

What "watermark text" are you trying to change, what does it say?

A valid, activated Windows shows no watermarks.

Is it the user32.dll.mui or the registry make up your mind. You are not telling the whole story.

Do you have a valid Windows 7 Ultimate license? Do you have SP1 installed?
