Customization for Windows 7 (icons, sounds)

I would like to replace my Windows Media Player icon, but I can't find any.
I want to change the sound of starting and closing system. I'm not able to do it, because I don't know new sounds.
It would be nice if someone could help me.

I know this, but I can't change a Startup sound. I did it, but when I turn on my computer I can't hear anything.

Ok have you checked the volume control on the far right of the taskbar? Just see where the slider is when you click on the speaker icon.

By the way I found the icon change for the WMP - you just right click on the taskbar icon > right click on the WMP bar > properties > change icon. Problem is by default there are only two available so you would have to import some icons from wherever that you like and add them to a library that you access by the Browse button in that change icon window:)

I had to use program called: 'Startup Sound Changer.'

Startup Sound Changer: Change Windows 7 Startup Sound

Thanks for the second solution. I imported my icon and added it to the library. This is good.

    Oh the utter Bliss.

I have torn out the media folder, changed the folder name, changed the file extension names, run the result three times through a file shredder. . .
