    Windows 7 Start Orb Location

    Hello there,

I'm having difficulty in finding out if there is a way to change automatically the Windows 7 start orb location when using small icons in the taskbar. The objective is to vertically center the orb in such scenario, as it becomes centered when using the large icons view. The image below exemplifies my issue.

    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks, digg

Digg, I don't believe it is possible to change the physical location of the start orb. There are programs out there that you can search for that will allow you to create a custom taskbar and maybe you can use the orb icon and place it in the center.
What would be your reasoning for wanting it in the center?

    Hi there, Rich.

The reason is purely being to want a vertically centered orb icon, so as to keep a clean coherent orb. If I use another image for the orb, a larger one for instance, with the small icons scenario it exceeds or almost exceeds the taskbar border, which I do not like. Take on the following example:

I'm using an orb changer application plus a few images for Windows orb I've downloaded. I think I'm not committing mistakes.

    Thanks,

I think if you didn`t have the orb where it is, you`d always be huntin for it.

My bad, I thought you meant halfway across the screen.

Might have something to do with the size of the orbs. Some I use are just too big to be "centered", while some are beautifully centered.

To center your Start orb you would have to offset the image when making the start orb, with the start orb changer that image is 54 pixels by 162 pixels each image is 54 pixels by 54 pixels looking at the screenshots I have below you will see the three areas for the orb, top is normal, center is hovered, bottom is pressed. The second image shows the start orb centered the third image shows them off center you would have to do some experimenting to get the orb centered just like you want.
