A shortcut to change wallpaper+icons?
I like a tidy desktop. Spartan, even. Usually this means 3-4 icons, tastefully placed and theme appropriate, one being a folder with all sorts of other shortcuts in it.
But as I was shoving my "etc" folder into the corner and trying to find a nice folded page icon to make it look like there was something under the desktop, it occurred to me...COULD something be put "under" the desktop?
I'm not really talking multiple monitors or folders or anything, but is there actually any way to have your wallpaper and desktop shortcuts (with desktop position data intact) changed with the click of a button? And then changed back with another? In a sense like changing users, but without logging in and out or having separate users, really much more rudimentary than that.
The reason for this would essentially be to have my work desktop and personal desktop just a click away from each other for when I need a quick break. No closing of programs or halting of processes, just a quick little change to perk me up mentally.
I tried searching for something like this, but my google-fu is weak and couldn't penetrate the pages upon pages of tutorials for multiple monitors or changing wallpapers. It might even be a job of a gadget, I'm not sure...but I figured if there was any place people might know something like this, it'd be here.
Even if something like this doesn't exist, knowing how many "change desktop daily" sorts of things there are I'm sure this can't be prohibitively difficult, right? If this didn't exist already, how might it be done?
EDIT: How embarrassing, I found a solution right after I posted this. Virtual Desktops and any application that manages them should very easily have the capability to handle this; they're not solely for multiple monitors like I thought.
