Life can be crazy at times, I try to be like the weather, and follow the path of least resistance.

I looked at your .bmp and noticed you changed your background to Black? That may be why the ghosts have vanished.

I did notice you may have a stuck pixel though, look above the context menu, that little white dot inside the yellow square:

I was asked to change background so chose black, someone else wanted white - the shadows are not as bad as they were in white and I guess liveable with, I attach zip file

AFAIK, it is impossible to "see" a stuck pixel in a screenshot. If I have a stuck pixel on my display and I take a snip and send it to you, will you be able to see the stuck pixel? No. That's not possible. It's a physical problem with one of the pixels.

    Correct me if I'm wrong.

Whatever color you want is okay with me, I was just making an observation, but it does look like you have better success with darker colors.
Must be that processing, I can't see any shadows

I don't know if you're right or wrong, I was just making an observation.

    Lets ask OandG.

OandG do you see a white or lighter dot where I point out?

You're wrong. Stuck is a physical problem

oldandgrey we won't be able to see the shadows with out a photograph taken with a camera and that image uploaded. Out monitor are fine and the snip is a digital version of your desktop which shows us no shadows.

This is the preferred, best way to upload an image to a post.

You may also upload a photo without using the Snipping tool.

From your screenshot, the white background shows that you do indeed still have drop shadows for desktop icons turned on. It's hard to tell with other colors.

First, verify that you have the ListviewShadow DWORD set to 0 (number zero) as per OPTION THREE in the tutorial below.
Next, see if you have a ListviewShadow DWORD entry at the registry location below. If so, delete it.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
Restart the computer to see if the shadow is gone.

If not, then use the Find and Find Next (F3) feature in regedit to search for any ListviewShadow DWORD values. Set any found to 0 (number zero). When finished, restart the computer to see if the shadows are still there.
