How to change left pane BG in start menu and all folders

OK I'm probably repeating a topic but maybe someone can lead me to a correct answer. I would like to change my left pane background and the left pane background of my folders individualy and the main background in all folders! I've used dodgey programs before that have caused head aches. I have used "Restorator 2007 to change icons and backgrounds before, so any advice would be helpful heres a screen shot:

    Welcome to the Seven Forums

It looks like you are using a third-party custom theme post a link to it and I can give you the image number for the left side of the start menu.
The backgrounds for the Windows Explorer on the left side and the main window are fill colors and the only way I know how to change that is to use Ave's Windows7 Style Builder

The left side of the control panel are Bitmaps #632 and 633 in the shell32.dll in both C:\Windows\System32 and C:\Windows\SysWOW64 after editing(put copies on your desktop and edit them did not get them mixed up) you will need to properly change a system file you need to take ownership give yourself permission and rename the old file and then copy in the new one look at Post #6 of this thread will tell you how to do it Basic Networking Information

thanks for the quick reply bongo, I have granted full admin control so I don't need permission to do anything lol, thanks for the start menu tip shall give that a go soon. The theme is Neon Theme for Windows 7 By Mr.GRiM and the site I think you need to be a member now is Re: Neon Theme for Windows 7
As for the left pane winow in the control panel and folder panels I have seen images here in other themes but found those themes to be too customized where buttons didn't work or suddenly popped up or disappeared! I like this theme Mr Grim is bloody good at making themes and icons just want to add a personal touch!

Mr Grim is probably one of the best theme makers out there.

The left side of the start menu image #s 872, 873 is when the menu is Extended

The images on the left side of the control panel are different than the areas in the Windows Explorer, for the control panel they are in the shell32.dll and the fill color for the Windows Explorer navigation pane and main area are in the .msstyles

If you do not feel like editing the shell32.dll have a look at this How to use theme resource changer it works very well.
