Welcome to the Seven Forums

How did you change the icons? Do you do it manually or was it a icon packer?

Do Option 2 of this tutorial SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker it will not harm any data or programs you have installed it will try to find and repair any corrupt system files that you have. You may need to do this up to three times with a reboot after each scan.

After the above scan follow-up with Icon Cache - Rebuild

It was an Icon Packer, every time I try to do SFC I get the following error.

Try SFC /SCANNOW : Run in Command Prompt at Boot
I'm assuming you've had this for a while and do not have a restore point before you did this.

Welcome to Seven Forums JoeyMini. Have you since uninstalled Icon Packager? If so, you might try removing this registry entry if it exists

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shellex

Delete the subkey/folder IconHandler

Make a backup in case you want to restore it

That would have been a leftover key from Icon Packer. If it's not there, it's not something you'd copy over.

You can try and manually change them...well, all but the battery icon

Notification area icons revert to default
My notification area will not stay customized. I have set 5 icons to always show, but after a windows update, scan by MSE or even after a reboot, the area changes back to the default of only showing the volume and action center flag. Is there a setting anywhere to "keep" the customize settings?
