Global, i am thinking it IS the timer, or ..... could it be the "fill" option? what about if chosen fit, stretch or center? this "fill" is a new option to me for desktop... could this be the culprit?

    over and out

Having same problems, to me it happens even if I loop over 4-5 images.
At first the slideshow loops correctly, then after a while, black background. It happens randomly though and I also believe it has to do with the 10/30 seconds interval.

Perhaps it has to do with how and when it loads the pictures into memory. It is a bug though, pls send feedback.

I can replicate this on 64bit, but only if I set the timer to anything under a minute.

I have tried with 50 pics, jpg and bmp, and it only occurs when the interval is short.

My standard theme is 5 rotating jpg's and it only happens when set to 10 or 30 seconds.

It doesnt like certain pictures. You have to find which ones it wont show and then remove them from your collection, or at least into a different folder. My 10 second slideshow works great now its almost through all 1100+ pictures.

When the background changes to black, go back to the desktop slideshow properties. You will see the LAST picture that worked. The next picture in order (Mine is alphabetically arranged) is the one that the desktop slideshow refuses to show. Move that picture out of the folder, go a couple pictures back, set a wallpaper, then select all and resume the slideshow until it finds the rest of the ones that do not work. I don't know if this is 100% for all windows 7 users, but this is what mine is doing, it should be 100% working for me soon.

The problem i have with this is that those pictures that you are removing, do they not work for you in either the gadget slideshow or in any other slideshow or do they work in paint for that matter? If the answer is yes, then i dont think this is the true "answer" for the "real problem". This is, if it works for you, a fix of sorts, but not a resolution.

Are these any particular pics, the "bad" ones? Anything you can pick out? jpg/bmp? size? ect? Characters, # of and what type of?

Global, also, and everyone else for that matter... what option are you using? fill, stretch, center?? I'm going to run some tests tonight, if memory serves me right, i used the stretch option when i had this problem... not sure if i have used fill, and if i had problems..... just another thought

I'm using fill with it set to 10 second intervals and its going forever now.

I removed all the pictures it doesn't like, it's working perfect. I don't believe the display fit/fill option matters, it was still stopping on the same pictures when I had it on Fit before.

Im using an 8600 GT with 1gb of ram and I'm in 1400x1050 resolution on this pc, and a 9800M GTS with 1gb of ddr3 ram on my laptop and using 1280x800 on that.
