Themes Does Not Shuffle Through All Pictures Before Repeating

I am new here and please forgive me if this has been asked and solved elsewhere (Search couldn't find anything specifically relevant).

Problem: Themes doesn't go through all pictures selected before repeating pictures it has already shown.
I can't be the only person to notice this. So how do I configure Themes to shuffle through all pics before repeating any? This drives me nuts and I have done many searches for an answer that will solve this, to no avail. Any help (other than.. "gee Themes doesn't do that") would be greatly appreciated.

Hello HammerHeart, and welcome to Seven Forums.

See if having Shuffle unchecked may help for your desktop slideshow. Shuffle is for it to display images randomly, so it could show an already displayed image again before one that hasn't yet.

    Hope this helps, :)

    WHY? Why? WHY?

I have not come across a shuffle mode in any app that outputs every item in the target database before an item is repeated. What is so hard about coding these shuffle algorithms so that they won't do this???? I mean, like, after all these years no one has come up with a formula that will 'memorize' an item already output before it outputs it again? Really?!!!!

    end-of-rant, sorry

I hear you. I guess when they say random, it's truly random.

Windows media centers isn't too bad,
It uses a Favorites pictures option and has shuffle.
    I haven't noticed any issues ?
But I would see a feature like this having issues shuffling files in different folders though.

He's right, I have the same issue. 806 HQ jpeg images, yet the same ones are repeating over and over, and the ones I would love to see, Sandra Bullock for example, *never* show up. I picked random because I want to "not know what is next", but Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit backgrounds miss over half of the images and keeps repeating the same ones, over, and over, and over again. By now, over a year, I expected to see some of my favorites come up, but it never happens and I have not marked any images as "favorite".

This is disappointing because no one here has offered a solution or at least have verified it. I am verifying it, the OP is right. Windows 7 keeps showing the same background images in random and totally misses the boat on up to half of the images. I just verified a Solitaire hint bug and this time, NameIssues did indeed verify it with a script to repeat the game over and over until he too, could see no more moves present but the game never ends. No solution, but at least it is now well documented.

I wonder if image name has anything to do with it. All of these wallpapers have been gathered from the web and many have numerical names and some have the same name, repeated with a numerical tag to differentiate them. Perhaps using a bulk rename utility to give them all similar, numerical names would help? It might be worth a try as the original names have no real meaning.

For now, I am going to shut off random to see if new images do indeed come on the desktop. How could Microsoft botch something so simple as randomize the image selection but not repeat the images until they all loop at least once? You would think that Microsoft has done such a good job, but things like this really smudge the polish on a product like Windows.
