just a shot in the dark... I have never had icon problems...but I have read plenty of posted solutions...
Can you use the information in Icon Cache - Rebuild to locate your icons and copy them to your C drive. I recommend creating a restore point or creating an image backup before attempting this.

So lets say i save the IconCache.db format C and then just replace the IconCache.db and all the icons will go back to the folders ?

    my apologies:
My wording was not exactly clear. I meant to copy that data in the folder in D drive to the appropriate folder in C drive.

Did you use a program to add them ? The icons are located inside the C:\Windows\System32 along with SysWOW64 for 64-bit OS . Files are shell32.dll , imagesp1.dll and imageres.dll and if you have a custom zip folder icon its zipfldr.dll . Back up those files to a save place and once you're done installing windows add them back .

If you want to keep the settings of the custom icons . For a reinstall . Show me the screen shot of the icons .
