adding few things to context menu, unsure where to start

first one is winrar.. it has the option to "extract file.." then I get to choose where I want to extract the files. however I only want to extract files to my ramdisk drive and going through directories each time is a pain, and I have limited amount of ramdisk space so copying it to ramdisk and extracting there would work, but prefer a shortcut.

I wanted to add a context menu similar to "extract here" but instead extracts to a specified directory.

2nd one is sorting under windows explorer. unfortunately sorting resets itself each time I change a folder. only way to make it stick is using "apply to folder" under tool-> folder option->view. thing is after making it stick it will stick to ALL folder type and of course I sort files differently for different types of files. music by name, rar/game files by size/name/type or even date.

any possible way to add "apply to folder" to the context menu when i right click empty space for that folder? and applies it?

    Hello M18XR2,

For the second item, you could use the method in the tutorial below to apply your folder view settings to all folders.

Folder View - Set a Default for All Folders

    Hope this helps some, :)

hey Shawn, sorry if what I said is a bit confusing. I currently have all of my folders set up and applied already, as for the methods from your link, I have used them. my issue was sorting, and wanting a shortcut to apply to folders with right click, added to context menu.

even after I apply to all folders the way I want them to be, very often I need to sort differently. say for example under 10 different folders I happen to need to check date and sort by latest created files for backup reasons, I sort 1st folder, then switch to 2nd folder but it'll be back under my default applied sort, which is name. then I would have to sort by date in 2nd folder, and repeat for 10 folders.

there are also times I need to sort by size for comparing file size, spacing up HDD and more backup reasons, again for multiple folders and I'd need to sort multiple times again which I find quite annoying. this leads me to wanting add "applied to folders" under context menu.

I'm not aware of how to add that to the context menu.

Using "Apply to folders" from the tutorial below in one folder should apply your changes to all folders that have the same folder template as the one applied from. If you set all folders to have the same folder template using the tutorial above, then whenever you use "Apply to folders", it will apply to all folders.

It's not the same as you wanted, but you should only have to apply it once.
