Unable to hide menu bar in Windows Explorer (problem solved)
I turned on the menu bar in Windows Explorer but could not turn it off. I finally solved the problem and turned it off. I am posting this so I can share how I did it.
I checked Menu bar in Organize > Layout to show the menu bar. After I unchecked Menu bar in Organize > Layout the menu bar would not hide itself like it should have.
Right-clicking the menu bar showed a list of other toolbars. They were Roboform and ZeroBar. Roboform was greyed out but ZeroBar was not. Out of curiosity I clicked on ZeroBar in the list. The menu bar hid itself after I did this. For some reason I could now uncheck Menu bar in Organize > Layout again and the menu bar would hide itself. This did not always work but seemed to point to ZeroBar as having something to do with the problem.
A Google search showed ZeroBar was related to NetZero. A couple years ago I had installed NetZero as a backup for my internet but had not used it for a long time. NetZero and ZeroBar were already disabled in Internet Explorer. I went into Add/Remove programs and uninstalled NetZero. After I rebooted ZeroBar was gone from Windows Explorer and so was my problem with hiding the menu bar.
