Welcome to Seven Forums ainoshoes. Are you talking about the little rectangle on the right end of the taskbar as in this tutorial?
Show Desktop Shortcut - Create
I would suspect it would reside in imageres.dll, but I have never seen anyone change that other then to change location.

ok thanks a guy, & do you think i could change it in the registry though,
in classes root, applications, explorer.exe ?
but i don't know what string value to add there .. .
i replaced the 1264 icon of imageres but would have to save the file which is almost 20mb in an archive were i have many other config files & if i can just have a reference in the registry it would be useless to save that 20mb copy of the dll

Could you please post a screenshot of the icon you are talking about?

Hi Bongo, I believe there's only one "show desktop" button in the windows "7" deskbar by default which is located in the taskbar on the bottom right angle of the screen.
OK that .png image is #1107 in the aero.msstyles in C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\Aero, that image is for Normal, Hover, Pressed each part is 17x40 px making it 17x120 px altogether.

I don't get it Jerry .. . are you trying to tell me the the icon
is initially invoked through the file you mentionned ?
before being invoked in imageres.dl as stated "A guy", which was true since
by replacing the resource in the dll, my icon changed the way i wanted .. .
Also, i'm using a theme free desktop without "aero" or "glass"..
That is why I asked for a screenshot so I can see what you are seeing.
When you say you are using a theme free desktop without aero or glass does this mean you are using Windows classic theme?
For more information the better.
Jerry
yes with 95% of disabled visual effects.
You keep mentioning a icon associated with the show desktop button. This is the third time I have asked post a screenshot of what you are talking about.
