How do I remove the black or white behind images?

The one on the left is already transparent. The one on the right you can get here, i know this because i have the exact same icon but with transparent background
To get rid of the coloured layer in future, use PS/GIMP, use the magic wand to select and delete from layer....simples!!

The link you posted doesn't show the icon, and I'm confused on how to use the wand in ps.
