Transparent Desktop shortcuts, turn black after logging off.

    Hi,

I having a problem where if i set any short-cut on my desktop to a transparent one (both made in Photoshop, and one downloaded from here [7forums]) it will work until I log off (or restart ofc).

I have tried rebuilding the icon cache - again it worked until I logged off - and also tried rebuilding the thumbnail cache - but with the same result. Does anyone have any ideas?

The Install of Windows is fairly new only about a month old and although I do have a mod that removes the short-cut arrow this was happening before that point. - Just say if you want any other information.

    Thanks, Wez.

Hello Wez, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You might see if using the method in the tutorial below may work for you for this since it's uses a trasparent icon included in Windows.

    Hi Brink.

Just tried that method, still turns black after I log off and on again. This is a pain in the arse.

    Wez,

Could you post a screenshot of the shortcut selected/highlighted when it turns black to see if anything may stand out as a cause?

Have you done any other mods that may be affecting this?

    @Wez

If you made a blank icon from a blank png... most probably you will get a black icon if you customize it.

Change any folder of your choice and browse it to the transparent icon i made from photoshop ( Link Below )

The icon should be transparent now - the effect is immediate without rebuilding the icon cache.
It's a good thing you remove the shortcut arrow to give it a clean transparency.

Tried rebooting and it should stay the same way.

Hope the pain at your bottom is at ease now....

Are you still there? I'm in the same pickle as wez.

Is there a way that you could repost the .ico or show me how to make a transparent icon? It would help out alot!
